The inaugural Qld BeNet Conference was held in April 2017 with a focus on Leaders Who Listen. Taking its cue from the opening words of the Rule of St Benedict (“Listen my child”) this conference drew together leaders from schools throughout Queensland with a Benedictine tradition.
BeNet is the name given to the Benedictine Educators Network and an international conference is held every three years. In 2016, Lourdes Hill College had three representatives at the conference in Rome – Robyn Anderson (Principal), John Clarke (Deputy Principal – Mission) and Louise Underwood (Relationships Theme Leader). It was in discussion with Claire MacLaren, Principal of St Benedict’s College, Mango Hill, and Kathy Park, Principal of St Margaret Mary’s College, Townsville, that the idea of a Queensland BeNet group was hatched.
Speakers at the conference included Ms Anderson, Sr Meg Kahler from the Good Samaritan Education Mission Team and Bern Nicholls and Annelies Hoogland, Directors of EDUCAA. There was a focus on listening to students, staff, one’s self and God.
