Workshop: Leadership Styles and Attributes to Build an Effective Contemporary Senior School Culture
CiTEL presents the first in its new CiTEL Leadership Workshop Series.
This workshop will explore a literature-based consideration of models of school leadership in terms of their effectiveness in establishing an effective senior school culture for the students and staff of contemporary society. The importance of a planned formulation of a leadership philosophy that identifiably builds and sustains a positive senior school culture will be discussed. The key structures and processes which have grown out of an identifiable leadership philosophy to establish an effective senior school culture will be described. The workshop will include insights and reflections from a student who has recently graduated after a senior school experience which was interwoven with navigation of many of the challenges confronting contemporary adolescents
Presentation & discussion led by Mr Terry Niebling
In a teaching career of 40 years, Terry has forged a teaching philosophy and a leadership philosophy which is grounded in an unwavering commitment to nurturing positive student-teacher relationships as the vital foundation for achieving maximum student growth and development. In his current role as Senior Deputy Principal – Head of School and Head of Senior School, Terry has strategically translated an identifiable leadership philosophy into a positive and effective senior school culture which is aligned to the needs and expectations of contemporary adolescent girls. Terry has vast experience as a classroom practitioner and Head of Department, including working in challenging overseas schools. His teaching areas include Chemistry, Physics and Maths B and he continues to demonstrate strong, positive classroom teaching practices. Terry has an enthusiastic, interactive presentation style which will generate a natural and relaxed atmosphere in the workshop.
